She used to call me by her name: (((Shahnaz))

A memory of the first year of living in the basement of Tour Alley.

Mr. Siavash Kasraei’s house is in the middle of itIt was an alley! We rented a house from the landlord Mr. Mohammadreza Lotfi and Qashang Kamkar (my husband’s sister) to live after marriage. It was very close to Karimkhan and semi-furnished! That is, there were some basic items like a sofa, a big bed and a few other things. In short, it was the best situation for me, who had made a deal with my father about this marriage and did not have an arrangement. First, they said that an employee of the American embassy lived here, I thought it was good! But I think that if this story is true, this person was the cleaner of the embassy! In short, my main problem is the smell of basement moisture, not having enough windows, cockroaches! And it was…But youth and love make everything bearable! Our neighbors, the house above us, was the first floor of Fahima Khanum, who had just graduated. Twins, Manireh and Manijeh! His wife was a strong mechanic, this was his second marriage. His mother lived with the first daughter in the opposite house. They would only come at noon with lunch and leave behind a world of dirty dishes for Fahima. It was for this reason that Fahima was shouting from the window of the courtyard: “Sherzad!” I had to calm down one of the twins to nurse that one! But an old Armenian lady lived on the floor above them. His children were gone, I was the only one who felt his loneliness.Sometimes I would go up the stairs with a small snack and sometimes he would insist me to drink a cup of Turkish coffee. But despite all this, he never learned my name and always called me Shahnaz. Once I reminded her that my name is Shahrzad and not Shahnaz, she said: I know my daughter, I have a friend whose name is Shahnaze and she is very kind, you are like her! Only your hair is curly, his hair is straight! But beautiful! You are beautiful too! the story; Instead of calling downstairs, Madam used to shout from the yard in case of emergency: Shahnaz! I knew from my name which floor I should go to! That day he shouted: Shahnaz, let’s go upstairs and have a coffee, my friend has come. I defined you. I arranged my clothes. The university was closed those days. I didn’t have children either. It was 1959 to be exact. I ran upstairs. Madame opened the door. kissed me When I entered and saw that the lady who was calling me by her name was Shahnaz Tehrani, I was a little shocked. Because in those days, by marrying Hoshang Kamkar, I had entered the first class of Iranian art and music. But I was in the middle of the road and I controlled my face. Because in front of me, I saw a simple, beautiful lady with long, thick black hair… It was clear that she had fallen in love with the madam before me, her beautiful eyes were filled with tears, and I didn’t understand. I didn’t know and didn’t even think for a minute what happened to this group of actresses during this time! Now I could see with my own eyes. I understood that Madam called me to change the atmosphere. I also started with what did you do that Madam only calls me by your name! Until now, I remember that the sound of laughter was raised by drinking Turkish madam’s coffee and my words. I never saw him again, but I never forgot his simple beautiful face and sad eyes.
